planting and Tiger Solutions bring artificial intelligence to plant engineering: same team, more projects
- Development partnership combines plant-engineering depth with the TAI AI platform
- First joint product: Regulatory Change Impact — automatically detect and assess changes to laws, standards and regulations
- Built on more than a year of productive use — Tiger Solutions remains an independent provider for the whole industry
Gummersbach / Pottenstein, 14 September 2026 · English translation of the German original.
planting GmbH, an engineering service provider for the process industry and part of the FERCHAU Group, and Tiger Solutions GmbH Europe, provider of the TAI AI platform, are entering into a development partnership. The goal is to combine engineering knowledge with artificial intelligence and turn it into digital products that engineers in Process Industry, Pharma & Life Science, Public & Infrastructure, Energy & Hydrogen and Defence use directly in their project work. The partnership takes effect on 15 September 2026 and is presented publicly for the first time at Engineering Summit 2026.
More data, more requirements, less time
Plant engineering is facing a shift: the volume of data, documents and regulatory requirements in plant projects is growing faster than conventional methods can keep up with. At the same time, clients demand shorter project durations with the same quality and standards compliance. Anyone planning a plant today spends a substantial part of their time searching for, reconciling and checking information — instead of making decisions.
This is exactly where the partnership comes in. Alongside access to customers, planting contributes its engineering depth in plant construction: from process design through to construction management on site, across all disciplines, led by project and engineering management anchored in defined processes.
Tiger Solutions contributes the TAI AI platform, which connects engineering systems, documents and regulations through technical connectors and makes them analysable with engineering logic. planting has been using the platform in productive engineering operations for more than a year.
“We want to deliver more projects at higher quality with the same team. Artificial intelligence takes the searching and cross-checking off our engineers’ hands — the judgement stays with people. In Tiger Solutions we have a partner who understands our industry and develops at a pace we were able to see for ourselves over a year of productive use.”
— Oliver Franke, Technical Managing Director, planting GmbH
First product: Regulatory Change Impact
The first product to come out of the partnership is called Regulatory Change Impact (RCI). The AI-supported tool helps users detect changes to laws, standards and guidelines in the context of their plant and assess the possible effects on the plant and its operation. What today runs manually through legislation on the internet, standards portals, circulars and personal experience becomes continuous monitoring: which requirement still applies, what has changed, and which parts of the plant are affected.
The division of labour is clear: Tiger Solutions delivers the platform with the technical connectors and the engineering logic; planting contributes use cases, domain requirements and standards expertise, and tests the products in productive use. Both partners define the joint products together; further products are already being planned.
“Engineering knowledge today is scattered across systems, documents and people’s heads. TAI makes it available in one place — and planting brings the practice that turns a platform into a product. Our goal is the TAI Engineering Cockpit: the central workspace in which engineers work on project information, documents and standards with AI support. This is not simply a better tool. It is a new way of designing plants.”
— Tobias Kühnlein, Managing Director, Tiger Solutions GmbH Europe
Independence remains
The partnership is not exclusive. Tiger Solutions remains an independent provider for the whole industry and continues to offer TAI to engineering companies, plant operators and technology providers in its own right. planting remains free in its choice of technology partners. A joint steering committee of both management teams governs the collaboration.
First insights at Engineering Summit 2026
At Engineering Summit on 15 and 16 September 2026, Oliver Franke, Manuel Steidl (planting) and Tobias Kühnlein (Tiger Solutions) show what the collaboration looks like in everyday project work in their joint talk “Use Case KI: Schneller, günstiger und hochwertiger — Die KI-Revolution im Engineering findet statt” (AI use case: faster, cheaper and higher quality — the AI revolution in engineering is happening).
About planting
planting GmbH was founded on 1 July 2010 as a subsidiary of what is today the FERCHAU Group, Germany’s leading group for engineering and IT services, with 100 plant-engineering specialists (engineers and technicians) at the time. The company now employs more than 415 people (as of 31 December 2025) at its locations in Cologne, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Rhine-Main and Rhine-Neckar as well as in local offices in the major regions of the process industry.
Operationally managed from Cologne, the technology service provider designs and delivers plants for Process Industry, Pharma & Life Science, Public & Infrastructure, Energy & Hydrogen and Defence — from the concept phase through detail engineering to commissioning. With revenue of more than 47 million euros (2025), it is one of the largest independent providers of engineering expertise in these industries in Germany.
About Tiger Solutions
Tiger Solutions GmbH Europe, based in Pottenstein, develops the TAI AI platform for plant engineering. TAI connects engineering systems, documents and regulations through technical connectors and makes engineering knowledge usable for engineers through a natural-language interface. The company was founded in 2025 and works with engineering service providers, plant operators and technology providers across Europe.
